Mastery (Assessment)


These materials are published by NCETM and OUP and are currently freely available here (though you may have to log in).

They are produced in print and online versions. They all provide “Questions, tasks and activities to support assessment” in a very helpful information section in the first, almost identical 7 pages, followed by many examples linked to The National Curriculum Programme of Study Statements for the relevant year. Its all about teaching the class in one group, providing every child with the same opportunities and expecting all to achieve mastery with some acquiring mastery with greater depth. Built to some extent on the work of John Holt’s How Children Fail (amongst others).
