Recognise/use different representations of squares and square roots, cubes and cube roots and calculate these; understand and use zero and positive integer powers of 10. Know that 100 = 1 by convention (for consistency).
The Excel file can be used interactively to change the number for square/cube work (from 1 to 10 in increments of 0.1) and to change the power of 10. This works well with the interactive ActivInspire or PowerPoint files.
